Bio:

With over 24 years of experience, Dheepa Chari is a visionary leader that has pioneered new approaches in scientific communications, digital innovation, and content creation within the pharmaceutical industry. As of November 2024, serves as Vice President, Head of Global Scientific Communications at GSK, leading an organization to drive impactful and integrated scientific communication narratives across therapeutic areas (TAs) and channels. Prior to GSK, she served as Vice President, Head of Global & US Medical Communications and Content at Pfizer, leading an organization to deliver cross-TA medical affairs omnichannel strategies across publications, congresses, field medical, and digital platforms. During her time at Pfizer, she and her team led several ‘industry first’ initiatives including the first pilot of abstract plain language summaries in 2018, the first patient poster track pilot in 2020 at key global congresses to enable greater transparency of emerging scientific information, and the first therapeutic area at Pfizer to launch a medical Twitter/X handle focused on sharing data from peer-previewed publications. Dheepa has a passion for innovation in data-driven medical communication approaches to drive transformation in audience engagement.

Prior to her time at GSK and Pfizer, she worked in Oncology Scientific Communications at Novartis and Global Medical Communications at Amgen, as well as clinical study management roles at both Amgen and Pfizer across various therapeutic areas.

Dheepa holds a Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from the Columbia University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with minors in Math and Music from Southern Methodist University. Outside of her pharmaceutical career, Dheepa is a singer & songwriter and performs regularly in NYC.
