Assal Hellmer

Bio:

Assal Hellmer joined Emergent in September 2020 and currently serves as Vice President, Global Communications. Assal oversees enterprise external and internal efforts, specifically leading corporate communications and reputation management, product communications, media and investor engagement, patient education and advocacy and employee communications.

In her current role, Assal has played a central part in guiding external messaging around Emergent’s mission-driven public health work—especially the groundbreaking launch of over-the-counter NARCAN® Nasal Spray in 2023, a milestone in expanding access to opioid overdose treatment. Under her communications leadership, the company has bolstered awareness of NARCAN® Nasal Spray availability in tens of thousands of retailers nationwide, aligning public awareness with lifesaving access.

A proud Villanova University alumna (B.A. in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication), Assal has risen through the ranks of strategic communications over the past two decades —from agency roles to senior leadership within the healthcare sector.
