Bio:

Donnie Wooten, Jr., PharmD is Senior Director, Global Medical Capabilities – Oncology at AstraZeneca, where he leads enterprise-wide capability building to accelerate Medical Affairs transformation across evidence, confidence, digital, and external engagement.


He brings diverse experience across the pharmaceutical industry, including leadership roles at Organon, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. At Merck, Donnie streamlined how field medical aligned to strategic imperatives, pioneering tools such as OneLink and One Source to enhance execution, insight gathering, and productivity. At J&J, he served on core launch teams for four oncology products, developing high-impact medical education and speaker programs. Most recently at Organon, he headed Global Field Medical Excellence, driving global standards in training, engagement, and performance.


Donnie earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Florida A&M University, completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Rutgers University, and pursued an MBA at Saint Joseph’s University. He has held adjunct faculty positions at FAMU and Rutgers, completed executive training at Brown University, and advises Seton Hall University’s Customer Experience Program. He is also an active member of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS) across Field Medical, Omnichannel, and Metrics working groups.
