Bio:
John Sears, PhD, MBA is a senior biopharmaceutical commercialization and market access leader with more than 20 years of experience driving launch excellence, market access strategy, portfolio growth, and business development across rare disease, hematology, immunology, and specialty therapeutics.
As Senior Director, Global Commercial Development at CSL Behring, John leads the company's enterprise Patient Blood Management strategy and serves as the commercial lead for strategic business development assessments within hematology.
Throughout his career, he has helped shape commercialization and reimbursement strategies for both pipeline and established brands, partnering across R&D, medical affairs, market access, and commercial functions to maximize patient access and enterprise value.
Most recently, John led development of the global market access strategy for ANDEMBRY® (garadacimab) in hereditary angioedema, helping establish its differentiation and reimbursement approach from Phase III development through launch. Notably, Andembry is a finalist for the 2026 Prix Galien USA Awards for “best biotechnology product”. John has also held key commercialization roles supporting successful launches including ZYTIGA® for advanced prostate cancer and OLYSIO® for hepatitis C.
In addition to launch leadership, John has driven growth initiatives for major specialty brands including HIZENTRA® and PRIVIGEN®, successfully co-leading global cross-functional teams responsible for identifying and executing scalable growth strategies across international markets. He has delivered growth strategies spaning multiple therapeutic areas, including hematology, immunology, oncology, metabolic disease, and gastroenterology.
John holds a PhD in molecular biology from Northwestern University and an MBA from Drexel University. He is a speaker on commercialization, market access, rare disease strategy, and healthcare innovation, and is recognized for his authentic and collaborative leadership style passion for coaching and mentorship.
