Josefa Maria Briceno, M.D.

Bio:

Josefa is a Surgical Oncologist from Caracas, Venezuela, specializing in GI surgical oncology. She completed internships at the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid (Liver Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery) and MSKCC (Hepatobiliary and Gastric Surgery). After practicing for 13 years in her home country, she moved to the US and began a rewarding career in the pharmaceutical industry. Since 2015, AZ has been her home, starting as an MSL in Women’s Cancers. In 2016, she transitioned to headquarters, taking on roles of increasing responsibility in Medical Affairs and leading multiple launches for Faslodex, Lynparza, and Enhertu across different tumor types. She served as the Breast Cancer Medical Head (MH) for almost 5 years, overseeing all inline and pipeline breast cancer assets, the US medical affairs breast cancer strategy, and a diverse team of experts. In January 2025 she transitioned to the Gyn/GU (G2) Franchise as Medical Franchise Head, with responsibility across multiple assets and tumor types
