Bio:
Patricia Casbas-Hernandez is a biochemist and oncology leader with deep experience spanning academic research, public health, and the biopharmaceutical industry. She earned her Licenciate Degree in Biochemistry from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, followed by a PhD in Molecular Pathology and an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her work focused on breast cancer biology and risk factors.
She began her career in academia at Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico, where her research and teaching centered on health disparities in breast and ovarian cancer among Hispanic populations. She later joined AstraZeneca in Women’s Cancers and went on to hold leadership roles across Oncology R&D, with a focus on external scientific and clinical alliances and partnership strategy.
Patricia currently leads the Center for Innovation and Medical Excellence within US Medical Affairs, Oncology at AstraZeneca, bringing together scientific expertise, strategic leadership, and a global perspective shaped by her work across the US, Puerto Rico, and Spain.
