Dr. Shikha Jain, MD, FACP
Dr. Shikha Jain is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, national speaker, and advocate dedicated to advancing equity and innovation in healthcare. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where she also serves as the Director of Communications Strategies in Medicine and the Associate Director of Oncology Communication & Digital Innovation at the University of Illinois Cancer Center.
Dr. Jain is the Founder and Chair of the Board of Women in Medicine®, a nonprofit organization committed to closing the gender gap in healthcare through mentorship, leadership development, advocacy, and community building. She also founded the annual Women in Medicine Summit™, a conference that convenes healthcare professionals to address challenges and opportunities for women in the field. Additionally, Dr. Jain co-founded IMPACT, a 501(c)(3) organization established during the COVID-19 pandemic to combat misinformation and elevate public health discourse.
In recognition of her expertise, Dr. Jain was appointed to the Committee on Addressing Inaccurate and Misleading Information about Biological Threats, a collaborative effort by the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. This committee focuses on identifying and mitigating the spread of misinformation related to biological threats.
Dr. Jain's dedication to healthcare has earned her accolades such as being named one of Medscape’s 25 Rising Stars in Medicine and receiving the 2024 Illinois Physician Leader of the Year award. Her TEDx talk, “The False Dichotomy of Being a Woman in Medicine,” has sparked widespread conversations on gender equity and leadership.
As a national media expert, Dr. Jain contributes to publications including Forbes, CNN, The Hill, and the Chicago Tribune. She has been featured on NPR, PBS NewsHour, ABC News, and Fox, and serves as a consultant and medical editor on various digital media and advocacy projects.
