Paul Dyer

President & CEO

/prompt

Bio:

Paul Dyer is a Midwesterner who fell into marketing and has gone on to become one of the industry's sharper critics of how brands show up today. With an outsider's perspective, he's known for challenging conventional agency thinking — especially the reflex to treat bigger budgets as the solution — and has built his reputation instead on a simple belief: outsmarting the competition beats outspending it. As President & CEO of /prompt, a fully integrated marketing & communications powerhouse, Paul has led the agency to be named Agency of the Year 10 times while producing some of the most impactful and awarded work in the industry. A former PRWeek 40 Under 40 honoree, Paul has held a range of agency leadership roles spanning social media, analytics, and earned media. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively across the pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and technology sectors — helping companies like Pfizer, Red Bull, Verizon, Warner Bros., Sanofi, and Intel modernize their communications approach. His Wall Street Journal bestselling book, Friction Fatigue, addresses the failings of Big Advertising and the remaking of the media landscape for the 2020s. It offers executives and marketers a roadmap for weaning off advertising dependency while meeting the changing expectations of their customers, consumers, employees, and other stakeholders. Paul graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis and later earned his MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas. He now lives in Connecticut with his wife and their two daughters.
