Ron Jaworski, known to the world as JAWS, is a former professional American football quarterback and a notable sports analyst, best known for his long career in the NFL, particularly as the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jaworski's passion for football and his post-playing career contributions to the sport have made him a well-respected figure in both the athletic and media worlds.
Growing up in a working-class family in Lackawanna, New York and attending Youngstown State University set the stage for the hard work and grit he brought to life.
Jaworski's professional football career began when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft. He became a household name with the Philadelphia Eagles (1977–1986), earning three Pro Bowl selections and leading the team to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1980, when he was named NFL MVP. He concluded his career with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs before retiring in 1990.
Following his playing career, Jaworski transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a prominent NFL analyst on ESPN and serving as a commentator for Monday Night Football and NFL Matchup. He currently co-hosts Philadelphia Eagles Pre and Post Game shows on NBC Sports Philadelphia and 6ABC, and is an Emmy Award winner for his ESPN coverage.
Beyond football, Ron is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He operates eight signature golf courses across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and runs Business Clubs America. With his wife Liz, he founded the Jaws Youth Playbook, which has raised over $8 million to support at-risk youth through health, wellness, and sports programs. Ron has served on numerous boards and has received accolades including induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
Married for 50 years to his high school sweetheart Liz, Ron is the proud father of three children and grandfather to seven grandsons, who affectionately call him “GrandJaws.”
